Aluminum is a wonderful material with which to create large outdoor metal sculptures. It is relatively easy to cut and shape and eventually one learns how to weld it. The surface forms a natural oxide that protects the underlying metal from further oxidation. It is an ideal material for forming outdoor gardens art sculpture. If a defect develops in the paint, it won't rust, as do steel and stainless steel.

Aluminum alloys can be very soft (pure aluminum) to the very strong rigid materials used to build airplanes, cars and boats. It is about one-half the weight of steel, which makes it easier to handle. I use the strong, structural aluminum.
